In India, in the North East of Manipur, a small village named Leisang is suffering from a major problem with electricity. It was the last Indian village to be electrified last year.
For many years, there have been demonstrations and petitions to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants. The village of Leisang is very poorly located and it is difficult to access it. Therefore, it didn’t have the power.
On the 27th April last year, the village was finally electrified. All the inhabitants were happy and there was a party in the village. The villagers watched TV all night. But a problem was coming: electricity was only available in the village for five to six hours. And during the past year, they remained in the dark for three months because of a technical issue.
They asked the administration to solve the issue. Although all recognize the lack of power, no solution was found. The official reason given is the difficulty of access. But this power issue does not only concern Leisang. A lot of Indian villages and towns like Delhi have no power round the clock. Power remains erratic in India.

Les villageois ont regardé la télévision toute la nuit. Mais un problème est survenu : l’électricité était seulement disponible dans le village entre cinq à six heures par jour. Et l’année suivante, ils sont même restés dans l’obscurité pendant trois mois.
Ils ont demandé à l’administration de résoudre le problème. Bien que tous reconnaissent le manque d’électricité, aucune solution n’est trouvée. La raison officielle invoquée est la difficulté d’accès du village. Mais cette question d’électricité ne concerne pas seulement Leisang. Beaucoup de villages indiens et des villes comme Delhi n’ont pas d’électricité 24h sur 24. L’accès à l’électricité reste instable en Inde.
