Charles and Camilla visit slum school in Delhi
Prince
Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, visited last Friday the
Katha Lab School in Govindpuri slum of South Delhi. The couple, who visit India
for nine days, also went to the Akshardham Temple.
Katha India
showed how the children are educated in the slum.
The British
couple went, with Katha founder Mrs Dharamarajan, round the school and the nursery.
Thousands of housemaids, wagers and labourers daily live in the slum.
He told the
educative team he was “very impressed” about the school’s bilingual approach
and focus on lifting people from poverty.
A big Black
Forest cake, topped with cherries on it, was presented to Charles with the
number 65 on the top by the children.
Later, the
pupils gave to Camilla and to William’s father origami, out of which they
picked a peacock and a fish.
The prince
signed in the guest book and wrote “Best wishes” in it.
Charles,
walked with Vice President Hamid Ansari, lunched privately, and in the evening,
met President Pranab Mukherjee.
The royal
couple also visited the Akshardham temple, situated in East Delhi. Both of them
brought a rose and chrysanthemum and took photos with the temple forming the
background.

Le prince Charles et sa femme Camilla, la duchesse de
Cornouailles, ont visité la « Kata Lab School » dans le bidonville de
Govindpuri, au sud de Delhi le vendredi 8 novembre
L’école indienne leur a montré comment la jeune génération y
est élevée.
Le couple s’est promené, avec la fondatrice de l’école Mme
Dharamarajan, dans les environs de l’école et de la crèche. Des centaines de
femmes de ménage, ouvriers et paysans vivent quotidiennement dans ce
bidonville.
Il a dit à l’équipe éducative qu’il était «très impressionné»
par l’approche bilingue de l’école et ses efforts pour sortir sa population de
la pauvreté.
Un gâteau d’anniversaire y attendait le prince qui aura 65
ans le 14 novembre.
Une Forêt Noire garnie de cerises et orné d’un grand « 65 » a été offerte à Charles par les plus jeunes.
Les élèves ont ensuite offert à Camilla et au père de
William un assortiment d’origamis, parmi lesquels ils ont choisi un paon et un
poisson.
Le prince a signé dans le livre d’or et a écrit
« Meilleurs Vœux ».
Charles, accompagné du Vice président Hamid Ansari, a déjeuné
en privé et dans la soirée a rencontré le président Pranab Mukherjee.
Le couple royal a également visité le temple Akshardham,
situé dans la banlieue est de Delhi. Ils ont apporté une rose et un
chrysanthème et ont posé pour des photos devant le temple.
