Tragedy hit the village on Friday, four students committed suicide by jumping into a well, allegedly because of sanctions by teachers. The parents demanded the immediate arrest of the persons behind the incident.
All the four students were studying in Class XI and were identified as Manisha, Deepa, Revathi and Sankari.
After their deaths, the District Education Officer decided that the school principal and the two teachers should be temporarily suspend.
They were told to bring their parents to school talk about their conduct. The Vellore police said: “we spoke to school teachers and they told us that they just gave the students an advice because they were undisciplined. It had nothing to do with their academic perfomance. They were apparently disturbing classes, not being attentive and teasing teachers. This was the problem.”

Deux enseignants ont été suspendus samedi dans le cadre du suicide de quatre élèves a Panapakkam dans le district de Vellore dans l’état du Tamil Nadu.
La tragédie a frappé le village vendredi, quatre jeunes filles de 16 ans se sont suicidées en sautant dans un puit, suite aux réprimandes des enseignants. Les parents ont demandé l’arrestation immédiate des responsables après l’incident.
Les quatre élèves, Manisha, Deepa, Revathi et Sankari, appartenaient toutes à la classe XI.
Après leur mort des, le responsable de l’éducation du district a décidé de suspendre temporairement le proviseur et des enseignants de l’école.
Leurs parents avaient été convoqués à l’établissement pour parler de leur comportement. La police de Vellore a déclaré : « nous avons parlé aux enseignants et ils nous ont dit qu’ils avaient simplement donnés un avertissement a cause de leur comportement. Cela n’avait rien à voir avec leurs résultats scolaires. Apparemment elles perturbaient la classe, n’étaient pas attentives et se moquaient des professeurs. Il ne s’agissait que de cela. »
