During the local legislative election in Manipur, a "rebel" shot four persons although some 35,000 security personnel were deployed at more than 2300 voting stations statewide. Police said that several bombs were found and defused before polling started.
They added the gunman was a suspected member of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland which has been fighting for independence from India. Similar militant groups accuse the Indian government of discrimination against this region of northeast India and robbing natural ressources.
Opinion: violent action for independence can be found in many other countries in the world, like in Spain’s Basque country and even in France, where a prefect was killed a few years ago in Corsica.

Lors des élections législatives locales de Manipur, un "rebelle" est entré dans un bureau de vote et a tiré sur quatre personnes. Le vote était pourtant surveillé par 35.000 officiers de sécurité dans plus de 2300 bureaux de vote.
La police a également précisé que quatre bombes avaient été trouvées et désamorcées. Elle a ajouté que le coupable était un membre du conseil national socialiste du Nagaland pour une Inde libre. Ces militants combattent pour l'indépendance du nord-est de l'Inde et accusent le gouvernement indien de discrimination et de piller leur région riche en ressources naturelles.
Opinion : Ces problèmes liés aux actions meurtrières d'indépendantistes se retrouvent dans beaucoup d'autres pays, même tout près de chez nous, au Pays basque espagnol et il n'y a pas si longtemps en Corse, où le préfet avait été tué.
