The first surgery was performed on 28 august 2017. The doctors created a bypass to separate the shared veins that return blood to the heart from the brain.
The twin boys were separated after 16 hours of surgery in the Indian capital, Delhi. 30 doctors carried out the surgery. It’s the first of the kind in India.
Now they are in the intensive care unit and the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences said that the “next 18 days would be extremely critical to ascertain the success of the surgery” because the health of one of the twins has deteriorated and the other has kidney problems.

Les garçons étaient nés avec les vaisseaux sanguins et les tissus du cerveau en commun, un cas de figure très rare puisqu’il se produit arrive une fois sur trois millions de naissance environ.
La première opération a eu lieu le 28 aout 2017. Les docteurs ont créé un contournement pour séparer les veines partagées qui renvoient le sang du cœur vers le cerveau.
Les jumeaux ont été séparés après 16 heures d’opération à Delhi, la capitale. Trente docteurs ont été mobilisés pour cette opération. C’est la première de ce genre en Inde.
Actuellement les enfants sont en soins intensifs et le directeur de l’institut de médecine All India a déclaré que « les 18 prochains jours seraient cruciaux pour décider du succès de l’opération» car la santé d’un des jumeaux s’est détériorée et l’autre a des problèmes aux reins.
