50th anniversary of 1971 War
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited New Delhi on Wednesday,
December 16 to pay tribute to the Indian soldiers who fell in the third
Indo-Pakistani war of 1971.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of the war which lasted from
December 3 to December 16, 1971 and killed 3,843 Indian soldiers.
The tribute was held in the capital at the National War Memorial.
The Prime Minister was received by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh
on the spot and the Chief of Defense Staff.
Narendra Modi lit the "Swarnim Vijay Mashaal", which is the eternal
flame of the War Memorial.
The heads of the three services laid a wreath and paid tribute to the soldiers.
Various heads of government then tweeted their respect for the soldiers
who sacrificed themselves for India's victory.
Several commemorations and tributes of all kinds took place this
Wednesday, December 16, “it is a sacrifice that still inspires
and makes all Indians proud” Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said.

Ce mercredi 16 décembre à New Delhi, le premier ministre indien
Narendra Modi est allé rendre hommage aux soldats indiens tombés
au combat lors de la troisième guerre indo-pakistanaise de 1971.
C’était cette année le 50e anniversaire de cette guerre qui s’est déroulée
du 3 au 16 décembre 1971 et a tué 3843 soldats indiens.
L’hommage a eu lieu dans la capitale, au Monument aux Morts national.
Le Premier ministre a été reçu par le ministre de la Défense Rajnath Singh
sur place et le chef d'état-major de la Défense.
Narendra Modi a allumé le “Swarnim Vijay Mashaal”,
la « flamme éternelle » du Monument.
Les chefs des trois armes ont déposé une couronne et ont rendu hommage aux soldats.
Différents chefs d’Etat ont envoyé un message pour marquer leur respect pour les soldats
qui se sont sacrifiés pour la victoire de l’Inde.
Plusieurs commémorations et hommages en tous genre ont eu lieu ce mercredi 16 décembre.
« C’est un sacrifice qui est toujours une source d’inspiration et rend fiers tous les Indiens
a déclaré le ministre de la Défense Rajnath Singh.
