Police arrest nine for jewel theft

  

In a major breakthrough, the police arrested nine persons and recovered 3,810 grams of gold jewels from them on Monday. The jewels were reportedly missing from the Muthoot FinCorp premises situated on the Arapalayam Cross Road here about a fortnight back following a complaint from the Kerala-based pawn broking firm’s branch manager Balasubramanian that an unidentified gang had kidnapped him and assistant manager Satish Kumar and subsequently took away the gold jewels from their office.Commissioner of Police Sanjay Mathur, who visited the scene of crime, formed special teams.Four days ago, Selvin of Madurai, surrendered before a judicial magistrate court. The police took him into custody for interrogation. Based on his confession, his accomplices were arrested and their names were given.From the beginning, the police had a suspicion that the entire crime could not have happened without the assistance of either some serving employees or ex-staff of the firm.In this direction, the police inquiries found that Selvin had been the mastermind. His friend, Suryanand, an employee of the pawn broking firm, had provided the tips. To execute the crime, Selvin had gathered like-minded friends.The gang had allegedly kidnapped the plaintiff and his colleague Satish Kumar.After detaining them in an undisclosed location, the keys of the office branch were forcibly taken from them and within a short time the jewels weighing 37 kg were stolen. To escape from the eyes of the police, the robbers had de-activated the surveillance camera and the alarm. Later, when they left the premises, the gadgets were re-activated.A few more arrests are likely and the police are confident of recovering all the lost properties intact. La disparition des bijoux des locaux de Fincorp Muthoot situé sur Arapalayam Cross Road avait été signalée il y a quinze jours.
Suite à une plainte de Mr Balasubramanian, directeur de la branche du Kerala d’une entreprise de prêt sur gages qui avait déclaré avoir été kidnappé ainsi que son assistant Satish Kumar par des inconnus qui avaient dérobé 3kg de bijoux en or dans leurs bureaux.Le commissaire de police Sanjay Mathur, qui avait inspecté les lieux du vol, avait formé des équipes spéciales.Il y a quatre jours, Selvin de Muderai s'est rendu au tribunal d'instance judiciaire. La police l'a mis en garde à vue pour un interrogatoire. Après ses aveux, ses complices ont été arrêtés et leurs noms rendus publics.Dès le début, la police soupçonnait que l'ensemble du crime n'aurait pas été possible sans l'aide de quelques collaborateurs ou ex-employés de l'entreprise.L’enquête de police a conclu que Selvin était le cerveau de l’opération. Son ami Suryanand, un employé de la société, aurait fourni les conseils. Pour exécuter leur forfait, Selvin s'était entouré de complices. Le gang aurait enlevé le plaignant et son collègue Satish Kumar. Au cours de leur détention dans un lieu inconnu, les clés de la succursale leur ont été extorquées et les bijoux volés. Pour échapper à la police, les voleurs avaient désactivé la caméra de surveillance et l'alarme. Au moment de quitter les lieux, les circuit avaient été réactivés.Quelques arrestations supplémentaires sont susceptibles de se produire et les policiers sont convaincus de pouvoir récupérer intacts tous les biens dérobés.
