Vaccine plant destroyed in Fire
On Thursday, January 21, a deadly fire occurred at the Serum Institute of India, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer, where millions of doses of the covid-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University are currently being produced.
The fire occurred at a production site under construction. The Serum Institute of India said the fire will not affect the production of doses of the vaccine.
The fire killed five people despite the rescue efforts deployed by the Indian state. "We sent six or seven fire trucks to the scene.”
India is the second most affected country by the global coronavirus pandemic after the United States and therefore needs a huge amount of vaccine and that is why the country has quickly started mass production.
Un incendie détruit une unité de production de vaccins
Ce jeudi 21 Janvier, s’est produit un incendie meurtrier au Serum Institute of India, le plus grand fabricant de vaccins au monde où sont produites actuellement des millions de doses du vaccin contre la covid-19 développé par AstraZeneca et l’Université d’Oxford.
L’incendie a éclaté sur un site en construction de production de ces vaccins. Le Serum Institute of India a déclaré que cet incendie n’affectera pas la production de doses du vaccin.
Le bilan humain s’établit à 5 morts en dépit des moyens déployés. “Nous avons envoyé six ou sept camions de pompiers sur place”.
L’Inde est le deuxième pays le plus touché par la pandémie mondiale du coronavirus derrière les Etats-Unis et a donc besoin d’une quantité colossale de vaccins et c’est pour cela que le pays a rapidement lancé la production de masse.
