Latest Coldplay and Beyonce clips under fire

The new Coldplay clip was coldly received by the Indian web community who denounced the Indian stereotype. The clip evokes the story of Chris Martin (the leader of Coldplay) who moves around Mumbai like a tourist taking part in the Holi celebration of colors. After he goes to cinema to see a movie on Beyonce as a Bollywood star and dressed in traditional Indian garb while the members of the band covered in paint play a gig in street to dancing kids. This clip was directed by Ben Mor. Since it was posted online, the clip received a lot of criticism like the rich English group plays music next to poor Indian kids or that Beyonce is accused of trying to appropriate their culture. This clip is colorful, exotic and is an invitation to travel.

Le nouveau clip de Coldplay a été mal reçu par les internautes indiens qui dénoncent ses stéréotypes. On y voit Chris Martin (le leader de Coldplay) jouer le touriste dans la ville de Mumbaï, participer à Holi, la fête des couleurs, puis se rendre au cinéma pour voir un film dans lequel Beyoncé joue une star de Bollywood aux parures typiquement indiennes.Le clip, réalisé par Ben Mor, a essuyé de nombreuses critiques comme le fait que le groupe de musiciens riches et blancs se retrouve au milieu de pauvres enfant indiens, quant à Beyoncé, elle a été accusée  de vouloir s’approprier une culture qui n’est pas la sienne. Le clip devait être exotique et coloré et inviter au voyage.
